Quote of the week
Until the Eighties, Oslo was a rather boring town, but it's changed a lot, and is now much more cosmopolitan. If I go downtown, I visit the harbour to see the tall ships and the ferries, and to admire the modern architecture such as the Opera House or the new Astrup Fearnley Museum on the water's edge.
Jo Nesbø
I don’t know when Nesbø said the above, but today you can add the Munch museum to the sights, situated a little bit further on from the Opera House. It is a lovely area where you are surrounded by water and the harbour. There are even a few small ‘house’ boats, or rafts, containing saunas, from where you enter directly into the water. The year around.
I am heading towards Oslo on Sunday with the car full of Hannes’ personal belongings from his flat in Lund, which was sold earlier this year. They will find a place in his new flat in Oslo.
I am looking forward to visit Oslo again, it is a lovely city. It is small enough for you to easily walk around. I will also have the opportunity to visit the ‘Reisemekka’ (Travelmekka) hosted by Escape Travel. A day of activities connected to travelling: music, photo tips, travel literature, food and wine, and personal travel experiences from the guides. Looking forward to visiting, and dreaming of warmer places.
I will also visit an old, Swedish friend of mine who lives in Oslo since many years. A few days of having fun and moving a few things around.
I will be back next week, with what I think is a few exciting stories.
Advent Calendar
On my blog I ‘open’ a box every day, looking at a little bit of literature, leading up to Christmas. You can visit on The Content Reader.
Have a wonderful 2nd Sunday of Advent.
I think up until the 80s, many towns were boring.
