I was curious about Venice. I've been reading all of Donna Leon (about three of her books a year, which are passed on by a friend who works on that schedule! I think I'm up to 13 now and boy, they read quickly. In truth, the books have made me want to visit Venice LESS -- I'm not sure she paints a picture of it that is so loving for one who lives there. But your post makes me wonder....

I am happy to hear you like them, so do I. They are an easy read. Although, the first books at least, are written in the early 90s, some of the crimes she writes about are still quite common, and is happening. I am on book number 6 now, and still enjoying them.

I guess, when you read about a city/place a crime, you are less likely to think about visiting it. However, Venice is wonderful, and none of the bad things we read in the books are very visible. The crowd is though. You have to share the small streets with a lot of tourists. But it is one of the most beautiful places in the world, I can imagine. I am still to write a few articles on my coming letters. I hope they will be inspiring to visiting Venice.

Thank you for reading and commenting. It makes all the difference.
